02-09-12 – Cresskill 2nd Alarm – 87 Hoover Dr

On Thursday, February 9th 2012 the Cresskill NJ Fire Department responded to 87 Hoover Dr on a reported fire. On arrival companies found heavy smoke pushing from the attic of a 60×50 2.5sty home. A 2nd alarm was requested as fire quickly began working it’s way through the roof. Crews faced water supply issues and truss construction which caused some initial complications reaching the fire. Crews were able to contain the fire to the exposure B side of the home minimizing damage.

01-22-12 – Westfield 6th Alarm – 435 South Ave East

On Sunday, January 22nd 2012 the Westfield NJ Fire Department responded to 435 South Avenue East at the corner of Westfield Ave for a reported fire. A 2nd alarm was requested on arrival as first arriving units found fire in the rear of a store extending into the cockloft. Union County MAC coordinators requested additional alarm levels as tin ceilings hampered access to the quickly traveling fire. Companies were eventually withdrawn from the building to to sagging roof conditions and they operated with exterior operations for the remainder of the fire. Six businesses were destroyed however the exposures remained in tact with minimal damage. There were no reported injuries.

01-18-12 – Union City 8th Alarm – 2105 Bergenline Ave

On Wednesday, January 18th 2012 the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue responded to 2103 Bergenline Ave in Union City NJ for a reported fire. First arriving companies reported smoke visible from the basement of a 3sty mixed occupancy building. A 2nd alarm was called a short time later after smoke started emanating from the upper floors and cockloft. Conditions continued to deteriorate as crews experienced difficulty reaching the seat of the fire while it extended through the walls into adjoining buildings. Alarm levels increased through the first several hours as the fire traveled through 6 structures. The fire eventually reached an 8th alarm status in the early morning hours and required mutual aid coverage from as far as Essex County.

12-20-11 – Paterson General Alarm – 20 North Straight St

On Tuesday, December 20th 2011 the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 20 North Straight St on multiple calls reporting a fire. Battalion 3 reported heavy smoke in the area enroute and then fire out several windows on arrival. EMS and Medics were requested on a rush for a female burn victim found in front of the fire building. A 2nd alarm was requested as fire quickly extended to an attached similar exposure. With heavy fire consuming the rear of the building and venting through the roof, a 3rd alarm was requested. No rear access made suppression difficult. Later in the fire, the original fire building sustained a collapse which aided efforts. One firefighter was injured.

12-17-11 – Paterson 2nd Alarm – 383 East 32nd St

On Saturday, December 17^th 2011 the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 17^th Ave and East 32st St on a reported fire. First arriving companies found heavy fire venting from the “D” side 1^st floor window and extending into the 2^nd fl of a large 2.5sty frame. Companies quickly advanced lines and contained fire on the 1^st flow however the rapidly advancing fire already made its way into the attic. A 2^nd alarm was later called to assist with manpower in reaching the heavy fire in the attic. Exterior operations were used for a short time to darken down fire before crews could hit hot spots and begin overhaul.

12-04-11 – Paterson 2nd Alarm – 438 21st Ave

On Sunday morning, December 4th 2011, the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 438 21st Ave at the corner of East 22nd St for a reported fire. First arriving units found heavy fire in the basement, extending up the rear porches, of a 3sty 30×60 mixed occupancy. Fire quickly traveled through the cockloft and a 2nd alarm was requested. Companies operated for approximately an hour before going PWH. Minor injuries were sustained.

08-31-11 – Passaic 3rd Alarm – 85 Ridge Ave

On Wednesday, August 31st 2011 the Passaic NJ Fire Department responded to 85 Ridge Ave on a reported fire. First arriving units reported a fully involved 1.5sty frame and ordered exterior operations for incoming units. Crews put 2 ladder pipes and 3 outside hand lines into operation to darken fire. Crews operated for several hours before placing the fire under control.
