2-18-06 - West Caldwell Fatal 2nd Alarm - 36 Distler Ave On Saturday February 18th, the West Caldwell Fire Dept responded to 36 Distler Ave and arrived to find a 2sty split frame dwelling well involved in fire. Companies made aggressive advances on the fire venting from the front and rear of the homes as mutual aid was being called. Alternating between interior and exterior attacks, companies began to darken down the fire until it was safe enough to begin overhaul. Several firefighters were evaluated by EMS for heat exhaustion and one female victim was found d.o.a. on the first floor.
