7-23-06 - Paterson General Alarm - 317 Market St Shortly before 2am on Sunday July 23rd 2006 the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 317 Market St on a reported fire in a barber shop. On arrival, companies found heavy smoke showing from the 1st fl establishment in a 3sty 20X60 attached mixed occupancy. Initial crews had difficulty finding the seat of the fire and a 2nd alarm was requested. Shortly thereafter, the fire extended to the upper floors and the similar exposures. A 3rd and General alarms were subsequently requested and extensive mutual aid was brought into the scene. Companies operated with exterior operations on the original fire building and made aggressive attempts with interior lines to maintain control of the fire. Several firefighters were treated and transported for heat related injuries.
