5-18-06 - West New York 4th Alarm - 5809 Washington Street On Thursday May 18th 2006 the West New York Fire Department responded to 5809 Washington Street on a reported fire. First arriving units quickly called for a 3rd alarm when they found a 2sty 200X200 warehouse well involved. Because of the volume of fire and rapidly deteriorating conditions, co’s immediately set up exterior operations and a collapse zone. A 4th alarm was subsequently requested to assist with water supply during exposure protection. Exterior operations continued through the night as companies tried to hit pockets of fire within collapsed portions of the building. There were no reported injuries and the cause is still being determined.
