2-02-05 - Teterboro Plane Crash A Canadair Challenger CL-600 jet aborted take off from Teterboro Airport and went across 6 lanes of traffic on Route 46 striking two cars before crashing into the Strawberry Warehouse. Twenty people were injured, two critically. All of the passengers headed to Chicago escaped the plane as it caught fire. Fire fighters from at least 10 Bergen County communities battled the blaze. Various agencies we on scene including police from multiple towns, State Police, Port Authority Police, FBI, FAA, Bergen County Haz-mat, Bergen County Mass Casualty Unit, and OEM. The fire was controlled within several hours. Route 46 was closed for about 24 hours while Investigators probed for the cause of the accident. The jet was enroute to Chicago but for an unknown reason the pilot aborted take off. Investigators said it will be a few months before a cause of the accident is determined.
