Shortly after 5am on Tuesday, March 19th 2013 the Garfield NJ Fire Department responded to 950 River Rd for are reported fire in a townhouse complex. First arriving companies found heavy fire on all floors of a 3 story center of row townhouse. There were a total of 14 units in all and fire involved approximately 7 and the entire series was still under construction. Fire quickly spread to the top floor and through the roof of all adjoining units on the “D” side. Exterior operations commenced as companies experienced access and water problems. A 2nd alarm was requested and additional mutual aid for coverage. The fire was darkened down and brought under control after 2 hours of operation. There were no reported injuries.
