On Wednesday, March 7th 2007 the Garfield NJ Fire Department responded to 398 Semel Ave on reported smoke coming from 2nd floor windows of a home. On arrival fire officers found smoke pushing from the 2nd floor windows of a 2.5sty private dwelling and police officers removing a victim from the home. Companies experienced initial water problems due to a frozen hydrant which was rectified by the last due company. A 2nd alarm was requested to assist however most companies staged at the scene and did not need to go to work. There were no other reported injuries and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
