2-11-07 - Passaic 3rd Alarm - 176 3rd St Shortly after 11pm on Sunday February 11th 2007 the Passaic NJ Fire Department responded to 176 3rd St on a reported fire. Initial companies had nothing showing from the front of the building on arrival. Once inside however, crews found a different story. Crews found heavy fire blowing out a rear first floor room threatening the 2nd floor. Numerous residents were found trying to make their way down the fire escape and were quickly removed by the remaining first alarm assignment. Due to the life hazard and threatening fire conditions a 2nd alarm was requested and later a 3rd alarm for manpower. Aggressive attacks by first arriving companies proved successful as the fire was knocked down before it could expose into the 2nd floor windows. There were no reported injuries and the cause was still under investigation.
