On Thursday, March 5th 2009 the Belleville NJ Fire Department responded to 701 Main St on a reported fire. First due companies requested a 2nd alarm on arrival as they found heavy smoke pushing from a 1st 75x125 brick commercial building which was exposed to a block long by block long complex of interconnected commercial buildings. As crews advanced hand lines, they found numerous cars burning in an auto repair facility. Initial water supply and access issues limited firefighters efforts. <p> A 3rd alarm was subsequently called to the scene for water supply assistance. No injuries were reported.
