In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 7th 2009 the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to East 17th St near 5th Ave on multiple calls reporting a fire. First arriving units called a 2nd alarm before arrival as they could see a fully involved 2sty duplex already venting into the exposures. Companies quickly put numerous 2.5” hand lines, 2 ladder pipes, and a deck gun into operation as other crews began advancing into the exposure buildings. <p> A 3rd alarm was requested and subsequently 2 mutual aid towns for work. The fire consumed and destroyed a vacant 2sty duplex and damaged 2.5sty OMD’s on both sides.
