11-29-07 - Fort Lee 6th Alarm Equiv - 246A Main St
Shortly after 2130hrs on Thursday November 29th 2007 the Fort Lee NJ Fire Department received a call of smoke in a bagel store located at 246A Main St. Police confirmed a fire by locating the fire on a street camera. On arrival, companies found heavy smoke showing from a 20x60 bagel store attached to a row of similar taxpayers. A 2nd alarm was quickly called and additional apparatus from numerous towns responded throughout the night. Companies were immediately faced with advanced fire conditions running ductwork and triple tin-roof ceilings into the adjoining exposures. For serious safety concerns crews were removed from the building. Deteriorated and unsafe roof conditions restricted members to the perimeter of the fire area only until the fire burned long enough to make it’s own vent holes. <p> Numerous outside master streams operated throughout the night until additional resources could be called the next morning. Several firefighters were rotated through EMS for various minor issues.
