11-03-09 - Englewood Cliffs Serious MVA - Palisades Interstate Parkway South
On Tuesday, November 3rd 2009 at approximately 1240pm the Englewood Cliffs NJ Fire Department responded to the Palisades Interstate Parkway southbound prior to Exit-1 for a car fire with entrapment. Police officers first arrived and found a mini-van that had drove off the road, launched into the air, struck a tree, and then caught fire. The driver was trapped from striking the tree. Police officers broke the window and removed the driver while other officers held back the flames with fire extinguishers. The fire department arrived and knocked down the fully involved van and had some reactions with magnesium engine parts. The driver was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
