On Monday March 31st 2014 the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 10th Ave near East 23rd St for a reported fire. Companies quickly called a 2nd alarm on arrival for heavy fire in two 2.5sty frames with additional exposure problems. Fire began extending into a 3rd dwelling and a 3rd alarm with mutual aid was requested.

Crews were withdrawn from the buildings several times so outside streams could help darken the fire. A Mayday was later called in the exposure B building for a firefighter who fell through the first floor into the basement but was immediately rescued. He received non-serious injuries. A total of 4 firefighters were injured during the fire.
