On Sunday, November 22nd 2009 the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded on multiple outside rubbish fires on Paterson Avenue near Union and Totowa Aves. While returning to quarters, Engine-2 received a verbal report for a house fire at 156 Paterson Ave. On arrival, Engine 2 reported heavy fire showing from a 2.5sty frame with reported trapped occupants. <p> As the box was filled out, companies put 2.5” hand lines into operation and began search operations. A 2nd alarm was requested as fire extended to a similar frame and searches were still in progress. Crews removed an elderly woman who was later pronounced DOA at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. The cause of the fire is considered suspicious. <p> Note: Victim removal photos will not be posted.
