On Sunday July 1st 2007 several fire department marine units responded to the Passaic River near Pennington Park in Paterson NJ on a report of a drowning victim. The victim, a 26 year old male, had disrobed, tried to swim across the river, and then went under the water line without returning. Paterson, Little Falls, West Paterson, and Totowa fire departments, as well as the Passaic County Sheriff's Department Dive Team all operated for approximately an hour. Members of Paterson FD Rescue 2 located the body in the vicinity of where he had gone under the water. The victim was removed with the assistance of the Sheriff's Diver.
