Shortly after midnight on Thursday morning, November 29th 2007 the Rutherford NJ Fire Department received a "2nd party call through the operator from an elderly woman reporting her house on fire" at 1 Ayer Pl. Prior to FD arrival additional calls were received reporting a house fire. <p> Police Officers arrived and rescued an 89 year old woman who was in the kitchen surrounded by fire. The victim was transported later to St. Barnabas Burn Center with 3rd Degree burns on the lower portion of her body. <p> A fast team from Wallington and a subsequent 2nd alarm were requested. Crews quickly entered with hand lines and knocked down a tremendous amount of fire. Fire conditions extended to the attic and eventually vented from several windows. Crews gained entry and hit the remaining fire with several minutes.
