On Sunday Morning, November 4th 2007 the Irvington NJ Fire Department responded to the area of 857 Springfield Ave on a reported fire. Companies reported heavy smoke showing from a distance. On arrival at the actual address of 908 Grove St just off Springfield Ave, companies found heavy fire showing out the 2nd and 3rd floor windows of a 3sty multiple dwelling. Fire conditions already extended into 1 exposure and were threatening a 2nd. <p> Mutual aid was requested from Maplewood and a 2nd alarm was requested shortly thereafter. Companies operated with exterior operations to darken the heavy fire and then entered the building to knock down the hot spots. There were no reported injuries and the arson squad was requested.
