04-12-09 - Paterson 2nd Alarm - 816 Madison Ave
Shortly after midnight on April 12th 2009 (Easter Sunday), the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 816 Madison Avenue on a reported fire. First due companies which were housed only half a block away arrived to find smoke pushing from a 2.5sty 25x50 OMD with occupants hanging off the porches. Crews quickly put large hand lines into operation on the fire while the balance of the assignment were making numerous rescues with ground ladders. <p> Because fire had extended to the 1st floor, heavy smoke was pushing from the entire structure, and numerous residents still needed to be removed, a 2nd alarm was requested. Fortunately, the fire was knocked down and searches resulted negative before the 2nd alarm was put to work. A total of 3 civilians and 1 firefighter received non-life threatening injuries.
