11-11-06 - Paterson General Alarm - 225 16th Ave. On Saturday Morning, November 11th shortly after midnight the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 225 16th Ave on a reported fire. On arrival, companies found a fully involved 2.5sty vacant frame partially collapsed and extending to both exposures. Severe heat conditions damaged some of the first due apparatus as companies made excellent attempts to get large streams on the fire. With two ladders and several hand lines working, companies were able to contain the fire to the original 3 buildings found on arrival and minor damage to the exposed walls of an additional frame. Numerous people were left homeless, and 3 residents were rescued by civilian by-standers. A total of 14 structures received some type of damage from the fire. Cause of the fire is under investigation and was publicly released as suspicious in nature.
