6-21-06 - Paterson 3rd Alarm - 139 Butler Ave On Wednesday June 21st 2006 the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to 139 Butler Street on a reported fire. On arrival, companies found heavy fire venting out first and 2nd floor windows already extending into the similar exposures. A 2nd alarm was quickly requested on arrival of the battalion. Power lines prevented the use of a ladder truck and the entire fire was worked with hand lines. Aggressive interior attacks and quick placement of exposure lines prevented the fire from destroying a 2nd exposure building and brought the fire under control quickly. Several firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion and 16 families were relocated.
