Garfield 3rd Alarm - 157 MacArthur Ave - On Sunday June 8th 2008 the Garfield NJ Fire Department responded to 157 MacArthur Ave on multiple calls reporting a fire. First due units found smoke showing from a 2sty irregular shaped dwelling. Crews quickly put a hand line into operation in the basement but were withdrawn once power lines started arching on the building. <p> With a delayed response from PSE&G the fire continued to progress through the building. After the arrival of a 2nd alarm and PSE&G, crews began fighting the 95 degree weather as well as the fire that was now throughout the building. A 3rd alarm was subsequently called as numerous firefighters were rotated through rehab.

A water main rupture and low water pressure didn’t help the situation either. A total of 3 firefighters were transported to area hospitals for heat related issues.
