Just before 5am on Wednesday, March 14th 2007 the Wayne NJ Fire Department responded to 14 Pocahontas Trail on a reported house fire. On arrival first due units found a fully involved 1.5sty 25x25 bungalow with extension into a 15x25 similar bungalow. In addition to heavy fire conditions, firefighters had down power lines directly in front of the fire buildings as well as narrow streets. Companies were unable to enter the block with fire appratus and were restricted to the use of hand lines. Surrounding trees also made elevated streams impractical. Two police officers effected a successful rescue of one resident and all three were treated for non-life threatening injuries. It took the fire department just over an hour under these conditions to bring the fire under control. Fire was contained to the two homes and no other injuries were reported. Cause of the fire was under investigation at the time of this writing.
