11-03-06 - Prospect Park 2nd Alarm - 296 North 8th St. On Friday November 3rd, 2006 the Prospect Park NJ Fire Department responded to 296 North 8th Street for a reported fire. First due units encountered heavy fire showing from all floors of a 3sty 25x60 mixed occupancy frame with serious exposure problems. Mutual aid was quickly called due to the rapidly progressing fire. First due units from Paterson FD immediately entered the exposure buildings and were successful in minimizing the extension as well as damage. A nearby school was evacuated early on in the fire and approximately 10 to 15 children had complained of smoke inhalation type symptoms. Several ambulances were called to evaluate the juveniles. 3 victims were rescued from the original fire building by first due police and fire units. Cause of the fire is under investigation with the Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad.
