On Monday, December 16th 2008 the Passaic NJ Fire Department responded to 177 Passaic St (corner property on Market St) for a reported fire. On arrival, companies found heavy smoke pushing from a 2sty 25x60 taxpayer. A 2nd alarm was requested as crews attempted to conduct interior operations. A subsequent 3rd alarm was requested as fire quickly spread to the 2nd floor and rear of the building.
Companies were withdrawn from the building due to deteriorated conditions and a final 4th alarm was requested. The building suffered several collapses during the fire. There were no reported injuries.
