Union City 4th Alarm – 3508 New York Avenue – First due companies found heavy fire blowing out several windows of a 3sty mixed occupancy building as well as a 1sty car stereo installation shop. A 2nd alarm was requested on arrival and a 3rd alarm within 1 minute of the 2nd. Crews made interior attacks but heavy fire forced them into defensive operations. Quick placement of 2.5” hand lines knocked down most of the visible fire in a short amount of time. A 4th alarm was subsequently requested as companies entered the exposure buildings to contain spread.
