On Saturday, January 16th 2010 the Little Ferry NJ Fire Department was dispatched to “Heaven is a Spa” located at 230 Route 46 Westbound for a reported smoke condition. First arriving units reported heavy fire in the rear of the building with heavy smoke showing. A 2nd alarm was requested as companies began placing large lines into operation. The fire began to consume a 1sty 60x40 commercial building which was attached to a 2sty 60x40 commercial building. <p> Companies were unable to gain access to the original fire building due to a roof air conditioner that collapsed into the first floor and rapidly deteriorating conditions. As the fire began extending into the 2sty exposure, additional alarm levels were requested to for water supply as well as truck operations. Crews operated with exterior operations throughout the night. Several renovations to the building and heavy timber construction caused various problems throughout the job.
