On Thursday, December 27th 2012 the Paterson NJ Fire Department was dispatched to the area of East 36th St and 20th Ave for a reported fire. First arriving companies reported a fully involved 2sty warehouse at the dead end of East 36th St (518 East 36th St). Limited access due to dead end street, locked gates, and narrow driveways added difficulty in accessing the building. A 2nd alarm was called and crews reported numerous explosions throughout the fire due to propane tanks inside the building. A 3rd alarm and additional mutual aid was requested to assist with water supply and exterior operations. Driven by high sub-freezing winds, the fire was quickly pushed through the building before companies could contain it. There were no reported injuries.
