7-28-05 - Fairfield Plane Crash - Essex County Airport Fairfield NJ Fire Department was requested to the end of the runway at the Essex County Airport for a reported plane crash. Companies arrived to find a single engine Cessna 172P sideways just feet before reaching a street and commercial building. It was initially reported that the pilot was performing "touch and go's" when the incident occurred. The pilot was not injured.
