Shortly after 1am on Tuesday, February 19th 2008 the Fairfield NJ Fire Department responded to 186 Little Falls Rd on a reported fire in a commercial building. On arrival, companies found heavy smoke banked down to street level and fire in a 1sty 70x40 two store commercial building. Crews quickly put 2.5” hand lines into operation to contain fire to a pizza store. With limited manpower, and a bad back up hydrant, a mutual aid engine and fast team were called to the scene. <p> Even with limited manpower, the initial line placement was able to contain the fire in a short amount of time and prevent further damage. Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit was requested to the scene. There were no reported injuries.
