7-02-04 - Fairfield 4th Alarm - 22 Route 46 East Fire companies arrived at 22 Route 46 East in Fairfield on July 2nd 2004 to find heavy fire showing from the front windows of this mixed level commercial building. Mutual aid from several towns were needed to contain the fire. Firefighting efforts were hampered by volume of fire on arrival and the amount of storage in the building causing an unsafe condition. No injuries were reported however numerous firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
