On Thursday, July 16th, 2026 the Totowa NJ Fire Department responded to 140 Furler St for a reported alarm activation. Upon arrival, Chief 970 found smoke pushing from the exposure B/C side of the building and called a working fire. He immediately requested 2nd alarm to the scene and additional mutual aid for cover. Crews quickly advanced several handlines which immediately knocked down a majority of fire in the warehouse. However companies continue to operate for over an hour dealing with pockets of fire between the interior ceiling and roof membrane.
Additional mutual aid was requested into the scene to assist with crew rotations, opening the roof, and town coverage. Crews were able to contain the fire to the rear area of the building and knock down the remaining fire without further structural damage. One (1) minor injury was treated but not transported.
