Shortly after 0430hrs the Paterson NJ Fire Department responded to the area of 35 Highland Ave on a reported fire. From quarters, companies reported heavy smoke visible and coming down the block Engine 4 reported a fully involved 2sty frame. On arrival of Battalion 2, an urgent 2nd alarm was requested as fire was already extending into similar exposures. Exterior operations were quickly set up and the main body of fire was darkened down. Interior lines were put into place and combined with an aggressive interior attack, the fire spread was contained. The fire was placed under control around 6am. Several firefighters were rehabbed for heat.
